If the home you are buying is in a flood zone and you are getting financing, we may need to get flood insurance.

It is managed by FEMA and in some cases, like during a hurricane, we may not be able to get it.

This could cause a delay, but it is not very likely.

We will start by asking the seller if they have a flood policy.

If so, it is easiest to assume it.

If not, I suggest getting a flood elevation certificate anyway.

This way you can know all aspects and any potential issues that may happen if there is a storm.

Flood insurance could also cover things like if an upstairs toilet leaks and ruins the house.

It is typically not very expensive and I am happy to help you with this detail.
